Celebrating Ying Tian & Fartash

A few months ago I had the joy of photographing the wedding of Ying Tian and Fartash a couple whose story crosses cultures and continents in the most beautiful way.

Ying Tian and Fartash are one of those couples who make you feel at ease the moment you meet them. Ying Tian is originally from Melaka and Fartash is from Iran. They met in the UK where they work and live and decided to return to Melaka for an intimate celebration with the people closest to them.

Before their wedding day we spent some time wandering through the heritage zone of Melaka for a portrait session. They showed up in matching red outfits Ying Tian in her elegant red Cheong Sam and Fartash in a red Tang jacket, echoed the rich tones of the century-old Stadthuys buildings. And we moved through the old streets like it was just another day together chatting laughing and making the whole shoot feel comfortable and real.

Then it came to their wedding which was simple and warm surrounded by close family and friends and made even more meaningful with a gate crashing and Chinese tea ceremony. Fartash’s family flew in from the UK while some of his relatives in Iran including his grandparents had to stay home due to the tense situation back then.

Even so they were very much part of the day. During the luncheon at LVC Restaurant, Fartash kept receiving video calls from Iran as loved ones sent their blessings from afar. Watching him smile at each call was a touching reminder of how love travels even when people cannot.

What I remember most about Ying Tian & Fartash is how gentle and open they are. They care so deeply for the people around them and they move through the world with a friendliness that feels genuine. Seeing them together you understand immediately why their paths fit so well.

Ying Tian & Fartash, I wish you both a life filled with ease warmth and the same kindness you share so naturally with everyone around you.
