08 Jul A Night with The Daily Fix: 70s Edition
It was such a special night getting to photograph The Daily Fix Annual Dinner this year, held at Dusit Princess Hotel in Melaka. This time, they made it extra special with proper decorations, a videographer, an emcee, photo booth, and of course, me behind the camera, on top of the simple gatherings they’ve had before.
I have known Josie and Julian (both proudly Malaccans), founders of The Daily Fix Cafe for so many years now. Back then they had just started their very first cafe at the busy Jonker Street. I still remember them thinking I was a reporter at the time, which still makes me laugh whenever I think about it. That was how our friendship began. Years later, I even had the honor of photographing Josie and Julian’s engagement portraits, so watching their journey unfold since then has been personal in its own way.
Looking at how far they have come is honestly amazing. From that one small cafe, The Daily Fix has grown into cafes, a bakery, a roastery, and a kopitiam, each with its own name and identity. Their growth over the years has been such a joy to witness.
Being back at their event, it was lovely spotting so many familiar faces in the crowd, since I do frequent their cafes myself. There were plenty of new faces too, a nice reminder of just how much the team has grown.
This year’s theme was the 70s, and everyone, staff and the two bosses included, dressed the part. It made for such a fun and colourful night. There was even a best dressed award to go along with it, plus some games and a lucky draw. Best of all, everyone walked away a winner.
Thank you so much to Josie and Julian for having me be part of this special celebration. Here is wishing The Daily Fix family continued growth, success, and many more wonderful moments to celebrate in the years ahead.
